Reflections on being Air Force Credit Union of the year
We have been recognized by the U.S. Air Force as Credit Union of the Year for 2011. This honor is given based on the quality of financial products and services we offer, as well as membership growth and community support.
Our comprehensive online services earned recognition as a top quality offering for members. Text Access, a service that lets members access updated account information instantly through their text-enabled phone, is a new, popular service.
Our online loan procedure where you can complete and sign loan documents online, makes a trip to a branch or costly express mail service unnecessary.
These benefits help those in the military, especially those deployed throughout the world and those who live far from a branch.
In 2011, we added reverse mortgage services and a seasoned reverse mortgage loan officer. Our goal is to provide counseling to members interested in a reverse mortgage to be sure the product is right for them. This shows our dedication to helping members make the best choices, rather than steering them to the most profitable ones.
The award also recognized our support of the local military community. Throughout the years, we have sponsored activities on Hanscom Air Force Base and beyond, supporting Hanscom Heroes Homecoming activities, sponsoring national programs such as Operation Best Wishes, participating in various programs for active duty military and supporting veterans programs.
Our outstanding membership growth was also a factor. We have you to thank for a 19% increase in new memberships in 2011. These new members are individuals who chose to begin a relationship with us based on our ability to meet their needs.
Thank you for helping us to be the best at what we do. It is our honor to serve all of our members and especially those Air Force members who serve our country.

Hanscom Charitable Foundation
If you have contributed to our Boston Marathon Pledge Drive or bought a raffle ticket to benefit the Massachusetts Coalition for the Homeless, you know we are committed to supporting these organizations and many others in the communities we serve.
We recently created a nonprofit organization to distribute funds donated through Hanscom FCU. The Hanscom Charitable Foundation, an independent 501(c)(3) organization, will now manage all our charitable efforts. A Board of Directors, made up of member volunteers, is responsible for the overall administration of the foundation.
That means your donations will be tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. In addition, the foundation will distribute 100% of the proceeds received, with nothing deducted for administrative expenses. We’re looking forward to amplifying your generosity through the true spirit of People Helping People.
The foundation can also accept donations from your ATM & Check Card and Visa® Platinum MemberPoints rewards. In addition, we are developing a way for you to designate the foundation for planned giving activities through endowments and trusts.
